Built of solid mahogany, made originally for a home in Nantucket, you haven’t seen the Catskills till you’ve looked through this signature element of the cottage. Up the oak stairs, there’s your private view of the mountains from the large master bedroom. Yes, that’s a whole closet and a half in the master. And that white paint on the walls is historical; based on that used by the 19th-century British Navy. In the second bedroom, it’s a beautiful, rich green hue that greets your guests. There, with the central air-conditioning off and windows open to the summer night, you can fall asleep to the Mettacahants Creek, as it gently streams past the bottom of the forested hill. Oh, and speaking of water, in one guest-room closet there’s a state-of-the-art washer and dryer. And the second closet? It’s a replica of the primary bedroom closet, just as wide and just as deep. And now, most importantly, your comfort in the upstairs bathroom begins with the heated, Italian porcelain at your feet. It continues over the solid oak Waterworks vanity with your reflection looking back from the soft lights of the extra-wide LED mirror. The walk-in shower is where new Waterworks fixtures and a vintage, freshly glazed American Standard soaking tub provide a kind of bathing chamber; behind glass, the other three walls tiled with the finest Italian marble. Lastly, the entire acre of 20 Solveig Lane is super-private. Out its circular driveway, you’re just a stone’s throw from Hudson Woods and a short ride to the Ashokan Reservoir, Mohonk Preserve, the Innes Resort and Golf Club, Woodstock, Arrowood Farms, Hunter and Windham Mountains, breweries, orchards, theatre -- and Minnewaska, the cream of NY State’s parks.
